There was more to the excitement in the air during the week of March 2 besides the March Break. Every lunch and Community Time period was abuzz with students and staff competing in various activities and games to see which group would be crowned the winners of this year’s Spirit Week.
The “Battle of the Streaming Services” saw each grade —and staff — adopt a streaming service to represent in the week-long challenges that were themed around movies and television. Each morning, the community would try to guess a movie’s soundtrack or song that played during the announcements, all while wearing the themed daily dress down for that day.
The free periods for the day were filled with even more themed activities for the community to take part in. Some activities included Grade and House dodgeball matches, a Just Dance competition held in the Lodge and the “Streaming Olympics” obstacle course which had students race each other on scooter boards.
During Lodge activities, students were asked what they loved most about the school and their grade. While participating in the “Masterchef Cookie Decorating Competition”, one student remarked, “My favourite part is the themed Dress Downs!”
Another student chimed in, “The Grade 7 class! Our grade is in the lead for Spirit Week, all we need to do is win tomorrow’s games!”
Friday, March 6 was indeed a big occasion as each grade made the last push towards the coveted Spirit points. At the start of Community Time, students and staff searched around the school for their streaming service’s logo in the “Streaming Sabotage Treasure Hunt”. By lunch, a crowd of students gathered in the Lodge to tape the Heads of Student Leadership to a wall. To get a length of tape, students were invited to donate a loonie to the Eastview Boys and Girls Club, a charity chosen by Heads Mason Kohler ‘26 and Alice Celik ‘26. They were able to raise over $350 and it showed, as the tape holding up both students remained sturdy.
By the end of fourth period, the entire community gathered in the gym to watch the submitted lip-sync challenge videos, with the Grade 12s taking home the win.
For having claimed the most Spirit points throughout the week, the Grade 7s, representing Spotify, would be the ones to take the title as the Spirit Week 2026 champions!
Thank you to the Student Council, staff and students for making this year’s Spirit Week as incredible as always!
