Celebrating the 2026 Spring Athletic Season

Tihmily Li, Senior Officer, Communications & Marketing
On May 26, the school community gathered in the gym to celebrate the accomplishments from our 2026 spring athletics season. The uncharacteristically cold spring season was short and swift with the competitive schedule lasting only a month. Regardless of the temperatures, Greenwood Grizzlies gave it their all on the diamond, pitch, field, green, track and court. Congratulations to the following teams for winning the CISAA Championships:
  • Jr DI Girls’ Rugby 7s
  • Sr DII Girls’ Softball
There were also many teams that won silver or finished in third. Read our spring athletics roundup to read more about those results.

This assembly was also a fond, bittersweet farewell to our graduating Athletics Committee executives, Theo Maceroni ‘26, Stella Seed ‘26 and Olivia Wellman ‘26. Each reflected on their journey as Greenwood Grizzlies through their time here. The three of them can breathe easy knowing that they leave the Athletics Committee in the capable hands of next year’s incoming execs, Cam Barnikis ‘27, Sadie Goldberg ‘27 and Reese Sommerman-Lindzon ‘27.

As always, the Athletics Assembly also recognizes individual athletes for the MVP and Coach’s Award for each team.

Congratulations to this season’s MVP recipients:

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
